Dr. Terry Giangreco (Dr. G) is a native Rochesterian who grew up in Irondequoit and attended Bishop Kearney High School. He received his B.A. degree from Rutgers University, where he majored in art. Even today, Dr. G uses his artistic talents to create the most beautiful smiles possible. He attended the University of Buffalo Dental School and then completed orthodontic training at the Masters level at Northwestern University, where he graduated top of his class. Dr. Giangreco is a frequent lecturer, sharing his orthodontic expertise to area dental societies and dental study clubs. He has been published internationally on the concept of orthodontic computer imaging, a technique that allows him to predict orthodontic results with great detail and accuracy. He currently is a member of the Craniofacial Team at Strong Memorial Hospital, specializing in the treatment of cleft palate and skeletal jaw growth dysfunction.
Dr. Giangreco continues to remain a leader in the field of orthodontics. In early 2006, he received his certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Board Certification is an elective process. It provides assurance to the public that an orthodontic specialist has successfully completed requirements designed to assess the knowledge, skills and clinical expertise necessary to provide quality patient care.
In his pursuit of continued excellence, Dr. Giangreco attends numerous continuing education programs throughout the year to maintain the highest quality of care for his patients. He is a current member of:
- American Association of Orthodontics
- Northeast Society of Orthodontics
- 7th District NYS Society of Orthodontics
- Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics
- American Dental Association
- President of the Monroe County Dental Society 2005
- 7th District Dental Society
- Wayne County Dental Society
- Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society
Dr. Giangreco lives in Webster with his wife Tricia and their son, Vincenzo. You may find Dr. G snow skiing, golfing, or water skiing on the Bay during the summer. He also enjoys judging the Democrat and Chronicle's yearly Spelling Bee for area students.
Dr. Ron Cortese is a native Rochesterian who attended Aquinas Institute. After receiving his undergraduate and dental degree from the University of Buffalo, he served his residency in the U.S. Army in Germany. He then returned to Rochester to practice general dentistry for 8 years. Dr. Cortese fulfilled his ultimate goal by returning to school to complete his postgraduate degree in orthodontics at Columbia University. He established the practice in 1971.
Dr. Cortese was one of the first orthodontists in the Greater Rochester area to become Board Certified. In 1988, he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This signifies a unique achievement, a step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in Orthodontics. Nationally, only one third of the orthodontists in the United States are certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. He has been on the teaching staff at Strong Memorial Hospital, Genesee Hospital and MCC. Dr. Cortese is also a member of :
- American Association of Orthodontics
- Northeast Society of Orthodontics
- 7th District NYS Society of Orthodontics
- Past Board Member NYS Orthodontic Society
- American Dental Association
- 7th District Dental Society
- Monroe County Dental Society
- Wayne County Dental Society
Dr. Cortese, for years, has spent his personal time skiing the glaciers of the Canadian Rockies and at Holimont in Ellicottville, NY with his wife, Joann. He is an avid golfer and was recently voted to the Board of Governors at Oak Hill. Photographs of his skiing expertise in the Canadian glaciers are on display in the reception area.
Dr. Janis Preston, (Dr. Janis) originally from Penfield, began her career in dentistry as a dental assistant while in high school. That is when she developed a passion for “getting it straight”. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Buffalo, she continued her education at Howard University - College of Dentistry in Washington, D. C. She completed her post-doctoral specialty training in orthodontics, also at Howard University. Dr. Preston has the distinction of being the top academic graduate in her orthodontic class. Dr. Preston is also a member of:
- The American Association of Orthodontics
- Northeast Society of Orthodontics
- 7th District NYS Society of Orthodontics
- The American Dental Association.
- Monroe County Dental Society

The recent addition of Dr. Preston to our practice is a great asset to the Get-It-Straight Team. She shares the same treatment philosophies as Dr. Giangreco and Dr. Cortese and is committed to providing area families with the finest orthodontic care available.
Dr. Janis and her husband Brad live in Webster with their son, Blake. As avid golfers and skiers, they fit right into the sports theme at Get-It-Straight.
